Thanks to the generous support of the Region of Waterloo Community Foundation, Uptown Thrift is proud to introduce our new Social Micro Hub—a welcoming space where community members can connect, relax, and belong.

The Social Micro Hub is designed to bring people together by creating meaningful opportunities for connection across generations. Seniors from the community will share their experience and mentorship with the young people employed at Uptown Thrift, helping to build confidence and skills.

Customers will have a safe, welcoming place to gather, play chess, checkers, board games, and spend time with friends. Community members can stop in to rest, enjoy a complimentary beverage and connect with others in a friendly, inclusive environment—with no expectation to make a purchase.

Book lovers are invited to browse our shelves, settle into a comfortable chair, and enjoy a good read before deciding whether to purchase the book.
